How to reconnect airpods after forgetting device?
Once you forget your device, it will delete it from your device’s saved Bluetooth list, but it will not prevent your Airpods from being discovered on your Bluetooth list.
All you would need to do to reconnect your airpods is to place them in pairing mode; this will set your device to be discoverable; it should then appear on your “Other devices” list for iPhone users or “Available Devices” list for android users this is located right under your saved device Bluetooth list. Here’s how:
- Enable pairing mode on your airpods (Open the case’s lid, press and hold the button located in the back of the case until the LED flashes white.
- next, go to your Bluetooth List; your Airpods should appear on the “Other devices” list for iPhone users or “Available Devices” list for android users
- Select your AIrpods and connect.
That’s it; your Airpods should now be connected.
However, there may be an instance where you don’t see your Airpods on your Bluetooth list even after setting it to pairing mode, or you may be experiencing issues connecting. If this is the case, then you’ll need to troubleshoot your device. Here’s how:
Toggle Bluetooth Off & back On
If you still aren’t able to see your Airpods in your Bluetooth device list or are simply having issues connecting to it, the solution may be as easy as toggling your Bluetooth on & off again.
Toggle your Bluetooth on your device off, then on again, enter pairing mode on your AirPods. Check your Bluetooth list to see if your Airpods have been found.
If your issue still persists, move on to the next step.
Restart Your Device (Phone, tablet, PC)
The next step is to restart your device, whether you’re using a phone, tablet, or PC. Simply turn your device off and back on. On your Airpods, enter pairing mode and check your device’s Bluetooth list.
Check For Available Software Updates
Software updates are done to fix software bugs and help improve the efficiency of your device’s software. This may have an impact on the Bluetooth feature. Here’s how to check if your device is up to date:
For iPhone Users:
- Go to Settings
- Select General
- Select Software update
Your device will display the software version your device is currently running on, and water or not you need an update.
For Android Users:
- Swipe down from the top of your screen
- Select Settings
- Scroll down and Select Software Update
- Select Check for updates
If your device is up to date, then your device will display “Current Software is up to date”; if not, then you’ll be prompted with “Update available“.
Charge your Airpods
Having a low battery may affect its ability to maintain a connection. Ensure your Airpods have adequate battery before pairing. To do this:
- Plugin your Lightning cable to the lightning connector on your charging case
- Then Plug the other end of the cable into a USB port of a wall adapter.
Clean Your Airpods & Charging Case
Dirt and debris in your Airpods or charging case can cause connection & charging issues. Here’s how to properly clean your device.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Wipe the Aurpods & charging case gently.
- If debris has accumulated in tight areas, use an anti-static brush.
How to Reset your Airpods
Resetting your device can help solve connection issues by restoring them back to their factory settings. Here’s how:
- Place both Airpods in the charging case & close the lid
- Open the lid after 30 seconds
- Press and hold the button on the back of the case until the LED flashes white
Reset Network Settings
The next method is resetting your device’s network settings.
You should know that resetting network settings erase your device’s saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth connections. However, it won’t erase any of your apps or personal data.
So, after resetting your network settings, you will need to re-connect back to your WI-FI and Bluetooth devices.

Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings
How To Reset Network Settings on Android:
Open Settings -> Depending on your device select “General management” or “System” -> Select “Reset” or “Reset options -> Select Reset Network settings.
