Can You Connect Oculus Quest 2 To Speakers?

People always want the absolute best experience when it comes to using their gadgets. As a result, a lot of people wonder whether they can connect their Quest 2 to speakers. We have the answers on this page.

So, can you connect the Oculus Quest 2 to speakers?

You should have no issues connecting your Oculus Quest 2 to a speaker if your speakers are equipped with a USB-C or 3.5mm audio jack. However, any connection outside of that can be difficult. While the Oculus 2 does technically support Bluetooth speakers, the tech isn’t good enough for some games.

Let’s go into a bit more depth on this. This way you will have more of a solid idea of how you should be connecting that Oculus Quest 2 up to your speaker system.

Can You Connect The Oculus Quest 2 To Speakers?

You actually have three different options available to you here. Some of these options are a little bit better than others. We will cover the pros and cons of each of these methods as we go through them.

USB-C or 3.5mm Jack

The easiest way to get your Oculus Quest 2 wired up to speakers is to use USB-C or 3.5mm. You just plug the wires coming from your speakers into your Oculus Quest and you are ready to roll. It takes seconds, and it is unlikely that there will be any issues with the system.

That being said, you do run into the problem that the USB-C or 3.5mm cable maybe a little bit too short for you to move around effectively. This is going to be fine if you are doing something with the Oculus Quest 2 that will involve you staying seated in the same position. However, once you start to dive into the games that require you to move around a great deal more, you will have issues.

Screen Streaming

The Oculus Quest 2 allows you to share your screen with a mobile device, computer, or certain Smart TVs (they have to support Chromecast)

This is a great way to be a bit more social in the way that you are sharing whatever you are doing on the Oculus Quest 2.

The problem is that there may be a small amount of lag when the video is being streamed. This should be fine in most cases. However, some people have noted that it isn’t brilliant when you are playing rhythm games.

You can access the screen streaming options inside the settings for your Oculus Quest 2.

Bluetooth Speakers

Technically, the Oculus Quest 2 does support Bluetooth speakers However, most people recommend that you avoid using Bluetooth, if possible.

This is because the team at Oculus has opted to have an odd form of Bluetooth audio streaming. It results in there being a small amount of lag or, in some cases, audio that is a bit more crackly.

Now, there is a good chance that this feature will be improved later on. Nobody is quite sure whether it is a software or hardware issue at the moment.

What Does It Mean If You Can’t Hear Your Oculus Quest 2 Through Your Speakers?

It means that there is an issue somewhere along the line. Since there aren’t actually all that many ways that you can pair the Oculus Quest 2 to some speakers, it should be a problem that is easy to diagnose.

If you are positive that you have the two paired up, then 99% of the time, it is because you have the sound turned down on your Oculus Quest 2. Make it a priority to check that. Once you switch it all the way up, you should be able to hear the sound again (we hope!)

If you have wired up the connection, then you will want to ensure that the wires are working perfectly fine. You want everybody to be pushed securely into the hole that it should be in. If everything seems secure, then you may want to use the wire in some different hardware to make sure that there is no issue.

If you are using the streaming option from the Oculus Quest 2, then make sure that the Wi-Fi network is stable. Some people have reported that an unstable network has caused sound issues for them.

Can You Use An External Bluetooth Transceiver On Your Oculus Quest 2?

You can.

Since the Oculus Quest 2 doesn’t support Bluetooth audio properly, you are able to plug a Bluetooth transceiver into the audio out jack on the Oculus Quest 2. This is going to give you proper sound quality via Bluetooth.

Do bear in mind that the audio quality still may not be the greatest. As anybody that uses Bluetooth knows, the audio quality can be somewhat hampered if you get a little bit too close to certain electrical equipment. While we haven’t seen too many people complain about the Oculus Quest 2 impacting their sound, it is something that may happen.

Can You Purchase Long Speaker Cables For The Oculus Quest 2?

Yes.

You can purchase speaker cables that are several meters long, and they are not that expensive. This can provide you with a bit more freedom when you are moving about and using your Oculus Quest 2.

You will, however, need to remember that the longer the speaker cable gets, the lower the sound quality. After all, the sound signal is going to have to travel further. For most people, the difference in sound quality should be imperceptible.

Conclusion

There are several ways that you can connect your Oculus Quest 2 to speakers. However, do bear in mind that you won’t be able to connect the Oculus Quest 2 to speakers via Bluetooth, not easily. If you want the best sound quality when you are hooked up to speakers, then we suggest that you go down the wired route. Although, do bear in mind that your movement will be ever so slightly restricted as you have a wire to contend with.
