Do JBL Headphones & Earbuds Work with iPhone? Answered
Ever since 2014 when Apple removed the headphone jack from their phones, people have been struggling to connect other headphone brands to their iPhone. As a result, you may be asking yourself whether or not JBL headphones and earbuds work with iPhone.
All JBL headphones, earbuds, and products work with iPhones. Wireless headphones easily connect using Bluetooth, and you can even monitor the headphone settings using the JBL Headphones app. Wired JBL headphones only need the headphone jack adapter for the iPhone, which is readily available at most stores.
To learn more about connecting your JBL headphones and earbuds with your iPhone, read on.
Do JBL Headphones ; Earbuds Work with iPhone?
JBL headphones and earbuds can connect with iPhone. Wireless or Bluetooth-enabled JBL products are very easy to connect, but you might want to use the JBL Headphones app to further control your JBL headphones and earbuds. Likewise, you can connect wired JBL headphones and earbuds to your iPhone, but you will likely need the port adapter sold by Apple.
In either case, connecting your JBL headphones or earbuds only takes a couple of seconds. If you are still having trouble connecting your headphones to your iPhone, we recommend contacting Apple support.
Connecting Wireless JBL Headphones ; Earbuds with iPhone
Because of the AirPods, many people assume that other wireless headphone and earbud brands cannot connect with the iPhone. This is simply not true. The iPhone uses standard Bluetooth technology, which means you can connect any Bluetooth device with iOS compatibility (which is most) to your iPhone.
Instructions
- Turn on Bluetooth function.
- Turn on JBL headphones or earbuds.
- Allow JBL headphones or earbuds to go into discovery mode.
- Allow your phone to connect to the JBL headphones via the Bluetooth setting page.
To connect your wireless JBL headphones and earbuds with your iPhone, begin by making sure the phone’s Bluetooth function is turned on. You can either do this by using the dropdown menu or going to your Apple settings.
Then, turn on your earbuds, and put them in pairing mode. Your headphones will automatically start searching for Bluetooth devices in the vicinity. While they are in pairing mode, look at the Bluetooth settings page on your phone. Your JBL headphones and earbuds should show up.
Click on the JBL headphones or earbuds under the Bluetooth list once they show up. This will connect your JBL wireless headphones or earbuds to your iPhone.
The JBL Headphones App
If you have wireless JBL headphones or earbuds, we also recommend downloading the JBL Headphones app. This app will allow you to control your wireless headphones with your Apple device. This app is suitable for most Android phones too.
Using the JBL Headphones app, you can control all headphone settings, including noise-canceling features, smart ambient features, and voice assistance. You can also use this app to answer any questions you may have about the product.
You will not need this app to use your wireless headphones with your iPhone, but it will make the experience more versatile and enjoyable. In order to use the app, you will need to connect your JBL headphones to the app using the instructions prompted.
Connecting Wired JBL Headphones ; Earbuds with iPhone
If you have wired JBL headphones and earbuds, you will likely not be able to plug them directly into the iPhone. Unless you have an iPhone 6 or earlier, your iPhone will not have a headphone jack at all. Starting with the iPhone 7, Apple completely ditched all headphone jacks as they started moving towards wireless technology.
Just because your iPhone does not have a headphone jack does not mean you can’t use your JBL headphones, though. All you need to do is purchase the Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter. iPhones sold today come with this adapter. So, check your junk technology drawer before buying a new adapter.
If you cannot find the adapter that came with your phone, you can look on Amazon or buy one directly through Apple. Most other stores that sell technology and phone products carry these adapters in-store as well. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding one in a location near you.
Instructions
- Purchase a headphone jack adapter.
- Plug the adapter into the iPhone charging port.
- Plug the JBL headphones or earbuds into the adapter.
To use the adapter, all you need to do is plug it into the iPhone charging port. Then, plug your JBL headphones into the adapter. Your JBL headphones and earbuds will work as normal. There is nothing else you need to do other than start listening to your music.
Final Thoughts
Whether you have wireless or wired JBL headphones, you should be able to connect them to your iPhone. If you have a wireless model, we recommend downloading the JBL app for further convenience. For wired models, make sure you purchase the Apple headphone jack adapter first.
