There are a lot of great streaming services out there, each with its own special niche. Crunchyroll is one such streaming service that serves a niche, offering the best selection of anime for American audiences.
Whether you want to watch One Piece, Dragon Ball, or Sailor Moon, Crunchyroll has a solid selection available. Like most streaming services, Crunchyroll offers a free trial of its services. But what do you do if you want to cancel it?
Once you set up your free trial, you can go into your account settings to cancel the subscription whenever you like. Log into your Crunchyroll account, and then click on the profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen. Click on the ‘My Account’ page, and click on ‘Membership Plan’. Here, you will have the opportunity to cancel your membership. Click that link, and then click Cancel Membership at the bottom of the next screen to confirm it. You will still have access to the benefits until your trial is over.
But what if you run into issues? And how long is a Crunchyroll membership anyway?
How to Cancel Crunchyroll Free Trial
Once you have started your 14-day free trial, you can cancel the free trial at any point until the trial ends. To do this, log into your Crunchyroll account. You will see a profile icon in the top-right corner. It is usually a generic icon, but you can add an avatar to your account instead. Click on this icon, and then click on the ‘My Account’ link, and then click on ‘Membership Plan’. This shows various details about your membership status, and also includes a link to be able to cancel your membership. After clicking this, scroll down on the next page, and select the ‘Cancel Membership’ option. This will ensure that you will not be charged once the free trial is over, and you will still be able to use the features that come with the free trial until the trial has completed.
How long does the Crunchyroll free trial last?
If you decide to get a Crunchyroll free trial, you will be able to access its Premium features for two weeks in total. Once the free trial is over, if you have not yet canceled your subscription, you will be charged $7.99 for one month. If you want to continue the membership, but are worried about wasting money, the good news is that there is no yearly subscription to Crunchyroll. As such, subscribing to Crunchyroll month-to-month does not show any loss. However, you can opt to increase your subscription tier.
The $7.99 tier is called the ‘Fan’ tier, and the next tier up from that is the ‘Mega Fan’ tier for $9.99 per month. The final tier, meanwhile, is called the ‘Ultimate Fan’ at $14.99 per month. These two higher tiers increase the number of concurrent screens, offline viewing, and perks. You can also get access to the Fan tier of Crunchyroll by subscribing to VRV for $9.99, which also gets you access to other streaming services.
Can I get a refund if I forgot to cancel my free trial?
One of the easiest things to do is to simply forget that you signed up for a free trial in the first place. In turn, you may wind up accidentally subscribing for a month when you don’t intend to have Crunchyroll any longer. If you want to try to get a refund for this month, you have to contact Crunchyroll’s customer service to ask them for a refund. The process should take a few days, and you should make the request as soon as possible. This is not a guaranteed result, but if you do not use your account, you should not have much of a problem getting your expenses refunded.
Do you need a subscription to watch Crunchyroll?
While many streaming services require you to pay a fee to use them at all, Crunchyroll is a notable exception to this. For most content on the website, you can enjoy it without spending a single penny. However, there are some downsides to not going premium. For one, there is some content that is exclusive to Crunchyroll Premium for a period of time. This is the case with new releases, which you will have to wait to watch on Crunchyroll if you do not have Premium (about a week’s wait). With Premium, you can watch new episodes of anime on Crunchyroll only one hour after they air in Japan – with English subtitles as well.
Another benefit is that you will be able to stream at a higher quality. With Premium, you can watch all episodes on the streaming service in either 720p60 and 1090p60 HD quality. And of course, if you are sick of ads, getting Premium allows you not to have to watch them. Although with an adblocker on your computer or phone, that should block them too.
Can you delete your Crunchyroll account?
If you want to delete your Crunchyroll account altogether, there is a way to do this. You have to have access to this account in the first place, via knowledge of the email and password associated with the account. However, if you don’t know the password, but have access to the email, you can use the “Forgot password?” function, which will send a link to reset the account’s password to the email address associated with the account. Once you are signed into the account, navigate to the help page, and click “Can I deactivate/delete my account?” By clicking on this link, you will be taken to a page to have your account deleted. Fill out the requisite forms, and then select “Yes” when the pop-up asks if you are sure about deleting your account.
If your Crunchyroll account was created by connecting your Facebook account to Crunchyroll, you first have to disconnect the two accounts before you can begin the deactivation process.
