If you’ve recently purchased a brand new pair of Sennheiser PXC 550 or the newer 550 ii model, then you’re probably eager to get them paired to your device. How to pair Sennheiser PXC 550 / Sennheiser PXC 550 ii
The Sennheiser PXC 550 and the newer model, the Sennheiser PXC 550 ii both have the same pairing process. Here’s how to pair them to any device:
Pair With Bluetooth:
- Twist your headphone’s earcups outwards to turn on your headphones
- Your headphones should automatically enter pairing mode if this is our first time pairing them. However, if this is not the case, you can place them on pairing mode manually by pressing & holding the Effect Mode Control button for around 4 seconds. (Press and hold the voice assistant button instead for 4 seconds on 550 ii)
- Navigate to your Bluetooth list on your phone or any device you would like to connect to
- Select your PXC 550 headphones from the list to connect. If required, enter the default Pincode “0000” to connect your device.
Pair with NFC:
- First, ensure that NFC is activated on the device you would like to connect to
- Place your Phone on the left earcup in order to initiate pairing
- Your headphones LED will flash white, indicating that your headphones are in pairing mode
- A prompt will appear on your phone asking to “connect Bluetooth Device?” select “yes” to complete the pairing process.
How to Charge the Sennheiser PXC 550/ 550 ii
If this is your first time using your Sennheiser, the first thing Sennheiser recommends you do is complete one charge cycle before use; this will take around 3 hours.
To charge your headphones, simply plug in the provided Micro USB end of the cable into your device and plug in the USB end of the cable to a power source; this can be a power brick, PC, laptop…etc.
Also, a quick tip for charging your headphones faster is to simply turn your headphones off. This will have a noticeable difference in the rate at which your headphones fully charge.
Additionally, you will be able to check your device’s battery percentage based on the LED light.
- One red LED indicates your device is less than 2% charged.
- One White LED indicates your device is 2-20% charged
- Two White LED lights indicate that your device is 20% to 40% charged
- Three White LED lights indicate your device is 40 to 60% charged
- Four white LED lights indicate that your device is 60 to 80% charged
- Five White LED lights indicate your device is 80 to 100% charged.

How To Reset Sennheiser PXC 550/ 550 ii
Like with any device, it’s not uncommon to experience the occasional technical issue; however, in most cases this is easily solved by simply resetting your headphones. Here’s how:
How to reset the Sennheiser PXC 550:
- Turn off your headphones
- Then, press and hold the Effect Mode Control button for 4 seconds
- Your headphones should now be reset
To reset & clear the entire pairing history:
- Turn off your headphones
- Then, press and hold the Effect Mode Control button for 4 seconds
- Press & hold the Effec Mode control button once again for 4 seconds
- A voice prompt should appear stating ” Pairing list Cleared”
- Your Headphones will then proceed to flash white, indicating that your device is ready to pair.
