Why Is My Wyze Camera Blinking Blue?

There are a number of reasons why your Wyze camera might flash a blue light. However, most of the time, it is related to the status of your Wyze camera, though. The status light on your Wyze camera blinks a number of different colors depending on the status of the system.

A flashing blue light means that your Wyze camera is connected to the Internet at your home. However, it also means that the Wyze camera is finishing its setup process and should be ready for use soon. Once the blue light becomes solid and steady, you are good to go.

However, it is possible that the blue light may not become steady. It is also possible that your Wyze camera may be stuck on other lights, too. It is important to know all about the Wyze camera’s lights so you know how to get the system working properly.

What If The Wyze Camera’s Blue Light Doesn’t Become Solid?

The Wyze camera’s light should become a solid blue color over time. If it does not, you should first unplug the power for the camera and then you should plug the power for the camera back in. That works a good amount of the time. If the camera’s light gets back to a flashing yellow color but it doesn’t fully reconnect, then you have to go through the process of setting up the Wyze camera as a new device.

First, you should go to the Wyze app. You should navigate to the Wyze app’s Home tab then click on the plus sign. You will see this in the upper-left portion of the Home tab. After that, click on ‘Add Device’.

Doing so will begin the Wyze camera’s setup process. At this point, all you have to do is follow the instructions in order to set up your Wyze camera once more. Solid yellow light is also usually a normal part of the setup process, but if the light stays a solid yellow color, here are some things to know.

What If The Wyze Camera’s Light Remains A Solid Yellow Color?

A solid yellow light indicates that the power for the Wyze camera has been turned on and the camera is starting up. If it stays a solid yellow color, then it is an issue. In the event that this happens right after a firmware upgrade or following a recent firmware upgrade, then it might be a good idea to try firmware flashing. You will need a MicroSD to complete this kind of troubleshooting. Here are the instructions for firmware flashing.

Another reason that it might remain a solid yellow color is due to the power. You should have received a wall plug and power cable in the same package as the Wyze camera itself. The light might remain a solid yellow color if you do not use the wall plug and power cable that were in the same package as the camera. You can simply switch to using this wall plug and power cable. This may resolve the issue.

Maybe the camera’s light remains solidly yellow even though you are using the wall plug and power cable that you received along with the camera. If so, then you should use a different wall plug and micro-USB power cable if you can. Sometimes, the wall plug and power cable include some sort of defect, meaning you just have to replace them with another wall plug and power cable. In many cases, a different wall plug and power cable will resolve the issue and your camera will continue its initialization process properly. If not, then move on to this next step.

Daisy-chaining your camera to another camera is one way to power it. However, it is possible that you might encounter some issues if you power your camera this way. If your camera’s light stays solidly yellow and it is daisy-chained to a different camera, you should try to power your camera directly. If your camera’s light goes from a solid yellow light to a flashing yellow light, then it means that the camera has taken the next step in its initialization process. You should be good to go in this case, as long as your camera finishes its initialization properly.

What If The Camera’s Light Is Solid Blue But It’s Not Set Up Properly?

This is another issue that sometimes happens. Typically speaking, if your Wyze camera has a solid blue light, then it means that the camera was set up properly. However, it is possible for you to see a solid blue light on your Wyze camera and notice that it has failed to set up properly. You should first force close the Wyze app on your phone. After that, you should try to get your Wyze camera to connect properly once again.

If that doesn’t work, the next step is to power cycle your Wyze camera . In other words, you should first unplug the camera and then plug the camera back in properly. After that, pull up the app on your phone and try to get the Wyze camera to set up and connect properly.

If you still have problems, switch the type of Internet connection from LTE or WiFi to the other type. After that, you can try unplugging the router the Wyze camera is connected to and plugging the router back in. Once the router starts back up and is online again, attempt to get the Wyze camera to connect properly. Make sure to wait until the router is fully connected to the Internet again before you try to get the Wyze camera to connect to it.
