How to Connect iPhone to HP Laptop

Connectivity is a big deal, especially with how easy it has become over the years to connect devices. Whether you are connecting over the Internet, over Bluetooth, or even just by using a USB cord, you can do a lot with this.

Being able to connect your iPhone to your HP laptop opens up a lot of possibilities, but how do you even connect your iPhone to your HP laptop?

The easiest way to connect the two devices is through Bluetooth. To set it up with Bluetooth, search for ‘Bluetooth’ in the taskbar, and select ‘Bluetooth & other devices’. Select ‘Add Bluetooth or other device’, and then select ‘Bluetooth’. Follow the instructions to pair them together.

But what are the other methods of connecting your iPhone to your HP laptop? And what could be the problem if you cannot get them to connect?

How to Connect iPhone to HP Laptop

Connecting an iPhone to an HP laptop is not a very complicated process, thankfully. It also helps that if you know how to connect an iPhone to a different laptop, you know how to do it on an HP laptop.

Connect your iPhone to your HP laptop via Bluetooth

The iPhone, as well as most laptops, come with built-in Bluetooth, ensuring that connecting them is easy as pie.

If you are unsure of whether your HP laptop is able to even connect via Bluetooth, you can find out by typing Bluetooth into the search menu icon and seeing if the Bluetooth option is actually available.

If you see an option to look for Bluetooth devices that are available for pairing, then you should be good to go. If you do not, you will have to buy a Bluetooth adapter, which plugs into a USB port.

Once you’ve verified it’s possible, the next step is to begin connecting the two devices. You can access the Devices menu in two simple ways. The first is to either search for the Settings menu, or search for Bluetooth, which brings you straight to the Bluetooth option.

This search box is found near the Start Menu, and is represented by a Magnifying Glass. The other option is to click the Start Menu, and then click the Settings option (which is represented by a Gear icon). Next, click on the Devices option.

Click on the Add Bluetooth or other device option to begin searching for discoverable devices. Make sure it is toggled on when you try this. Follow the directions presented, which may include entering a code from your iPhone to confirm the pairing process on the HP laptop. You may also have to confirm some things on your iPhone to finish the process.

Connect your iPhone to your HP laptop via USB

There are two common reasons why people like to plug their iPhones into a laptop, HP or otherwise.

The first is to connect for charging purposes. This does not actually require you to have the iPhone connected to your HP laptop; the benefit is merely that it is a convenient power source.

An additional note to take into consideration is that, if you are trying to charge your iPhone, your laptop will be a slower method than charging through a wall outlet.

Yet, if that’s your only option, beggars can’t be choosers. However, the other reason why people tend to plug their iPhone into their HP laptop is for file transfer purposes.

When you connect your devices together, you will be able to transfer files both to and from your iPhone and HP laptop.

Access files from iCloud to your HP laptop

While this is not directly connecting to your HP laptop with an iPhone, iCloud is a feature of the iPhone that can be used for file transfer purposes.

All you need to do is enable iCloud on your iPhone and connect it to your Apple ID.

Next, download iCloud to your HP laptop, and then sign into that with your Apple ID. With that, you should be able to transfer files to and from your laptop, and the same with your iPhone.

Why can’t my iPhone connect to my HP laptop?

If the above-mentioned issues are not managing to get your iPhone connected to your HP laptop, there are multiple things that could be causing it, depending on what method you are using.

For example, if you are trying to connect the two devices over Bluetooth, a common reason why you may be unable to do so is because one or both of the devices is set to Airplane mode. Airplane mode basically turns off all types of signals, unless you make a certain signal exception.

The purpose of Airplane mode is for use on an airplane during landing and takeoff, or if you want to prevent signals from reaching your devices.

If you are trying to get your iPhone out of Airplane mode, the good news is that it only takes a swipe of your screen to bring up the Control Panel.

Here, you can turn it on or off. You can also access this in the Settings menu. On your HP laptop, however, you have to click on the speech bubble icon in the bottom-right corner (assuming your laptop is oriented to Landscape mode). Click on that, and if the Airplane mode is enabled, click on the icon to disable it.

If you are trying to connect your iPhone to your HP laptop using a USB cord and it’s not working, the iPhone may either not have enough charge, or the USB cord may be damaged in some way.

Check for any signs of damage, such as exposed or frayed wires. If you see any evidence of either, toss out the USB cord and replace it with an operational one. Even if you do not see signs of damage, try testing to see if a different USB cable is capable of connecting the two devices. If they do, toss the old one out.
