Does Crunchyroll have Haikyu!! Dubbed?

There are a lot of genres in anime; no matter what kind of show, and what kind of tone, you are likely to find something that tickles your fancy. For people who enjoy sports media, however, anime has proven to have a lot of popular anime, including Eyeshield 21, Prince of Tennis, and of course, Haikyuu. Crunchyroll is one of the premier places to watch anime, and sometimes has an English dub available for select anime.

Unfortunately, people who prefer English dubs are left high and dry if they want to watch Haikyuu on Crunchyroll, as it is not available to them. There are other ways to watch Haikyuu in English, but there are some limitations you need to consider.

Below, we will discuss these limitations, as well as Haikyuu and other similar anime.

Does Crunchyroll have Haikyuu Dubbed?

If you want to watch Haikyuu on Crunchyroll, the only option you have at your disposal is to watch the Japanese dub. Thankfully, the Japanese performance is excellent, so it’s not like you will suffer a bad performance. However, it is nonetheless frustrating if you prefer to not have to read subtitles while you watch, as not everyone can keep up with them as well.

Should I watch the English dub or Japanese dub of Haikyuu?

Once again, this kind of thing is wholly subjective, and will have to do both with your own personal preference and your patience. Unfortunately, watching Haikyuu in English requires you to jump through many hoops, as Netflix, which originally had the first two seasons in English, does not have the series anymore — not on American Netflix, anyway. If you want to try to watch it on Netflix, you would have to get a virtual private network (VPN) and trick Netflix into thinking you live in another country.

The best option to watch the English dub would be to purchase seasons 1-4 on Blu-ray, though this will set you back a pretty penny. The first two seasons of Haikyuu are particularly pricey (at least as of April 2022), while the latter two seasons are more reasonably priced.

If money is more than just an object to you, your best recommendation would be to just cut your losses and watch Haikyuu in Japanese. The English dub is far from bad; in fact, it’s actually pretty good. But generally, people seem to prefer the Japanese dub.

What is Haikyuu?

Haikyuu is an anime adapted from the manga of the same name (both formatted as “Haikyuu!!”), following a young aspiring volleyball player named Shoyo Hinata as he tries to climb to the top, despite his small stature. Unfortunately, he is the only member of the school’s volleyball club, and despite managing to gather five other players, they go against the best team in the competition they entered and lost right away. This sets up viewers for a show where they get to see the crew rise from the ashes.

Is Haikyuu any good?

How good an anime or manga Haikyuu is will definitely be a subjective thing, but even if you are not a fan of sports, Haikyuu is undoubtedly going to win a lot of people over. The matches are incredibly well choreographed, and the characters well-written enough that you become invested in seeing the protagonists come out ahead. Thankfully, it is not all serious, as it has great humor.

is Haikyuu still ongoing?

While the manga completed back in 2020 (and has been fully released in English), the anime is still ongoing. Season 4, the latest season, released in December 2020, and work on Season 5 has been going since. Season 5 of Haikyuu is currently in production, and speculation is that it may be a split release, landing in summer and winter of 2022.

While the anime is continuing, season 4 has the series entering one of the story’s final arcs, so it should not be too long until the series is complete.

Are there other shows like Haikyuu on Crunchyroll?

Sports anime is a fairly popular genre, so it is inevitable that Crunchyroll would have other anime with similar genre, plot, and tone. There are even other volleyball anime, such as Harukana Receive, focusing on female volleyball players instead of male volleyball players like Haikyuu. Both of these anime are good in their own right, so if you saw one, you should check out the other too.

If you want to check out other sports, you have plenty of choices. Eyeshield 21 for American football, Prince of Tennis for… well, tennis, Yuri on Ice for figure skating, Ace of Diamonds for baseball, and much, much more.

What other Haikyuu media is there?

While the manga and anime of Haikyuu are the primary ways people tend to enjoy this story, it is by no means the only way. One such example is the Haikyuu light novel series, consisting of 13 volumes. While it is still not released in English officially, there have been fan translations created to bring these works to more people.

In addition, there are multiple live-action productions made for Haikyuu. The first was a stage play adaptation of the story, while the second, currently in production, is a live-action film.

And of course, if you enjoyed the Haikyuu anime and want to enjoy more of that universe, there are five anime films at your disposal. Just don’t watch them all in a row — you gotta savor them!
