Choosing The Right Ink Cartridge

Choosing the correct ink cartridge for your particular model of printer is essential. If you choose the wrong type of ink cartridge, your printer may not print at all, or if it does, it may print with discrepancies or create blurry images or undecipherable documents. The best way to determine which ink cartridge your particular printer needs is to look inside near the cartridge seat.

There should be a raised print inside the carriage or nearby inside the printer. If you can’t see the markings, you can also look up your particular model of printer online, and the HP website should have a list of cartridges that are compatible with your type of printer. If you still need help, ask someone at your local office supply store for assistance.

Installing the Ink Cartridge

The process of installing an ink cartridge is pretty straightforward. You want to ensure your ink cartridges are sealed in their packaging to ensure they aren’t dried up or have been tampered with before you can use them. You’ll need to remove any foil coverings from the cartridge and then place it into the slot for the appropriate cartridge type.

There is a slot for colored ink and one for black ink. Make sure you put them in the right spot by checking the HP website or noting which side is which type when you remove the old cartridge. If you have a new printer, you’ll usually have ink cartridges that come with the printer. However, don’t assume, and ensure you check before making a purchase.

Why Won’t the Printer Print Once I’ve Installed the New Cartridge?

First, make sure you have the right cartridge for the printer. If you do, you’ll want to make sure you put the proper ink cartridge in the correct spot. If you are unsure, it should be marked inside the printer where it’s inserted.

If you have questions, you can go to the HP support page or do an internet search. Sometimes the cartridge isn’t firmly in place and may require you to reposition it and make sure it locks firmly into its seat. You may need to go through a test process first before you can print.

Sometimes you may need to go into your computer’s or printer’s settings page to find the test print or reset the printer cartridges manually. You’ll likely need to print a few test pages before you can actually begin printing the documents you want.

What if the printer Won’t Connect to Devices After Changing the Cartridge?

If you have an issue connecting with the internet or an electronic device after changing the cartridge, you can do a few things to troubleshoot on your own. You first want to make sure your printer is plugged in. Sometimes you might need to unplug it to get into better lighting to change the cartridge. If it’s plugged in, make sure the WiFi light is on. It’s easily viewed on the side of the machine or in the control window.

If it’s off, you need to go through the connection process again. If you connect wirelessly to a phone or tablet, you likely need to use an app. Make sure the app is working if so. You might need to uninstall and reinstall the app if you can’t get it to work correctly. Also, ensure you are connected via Bluetooth to the right printer.

If you’ve connected to more than one device on Bluetooth, select your specific printer type before attempting to print. You can also try to reprint an item by canceling the current document and starting a new print. Occasionally, a document will stall or be delayed in a queue until there’s a remedy to an issue.
