Solid Red Light on Turtle Beach Stealth 700/ 600 (What does it mean?)

You just unboxed your Turtle Beach Stealth 600 or Stealth 700 headset for gaming, and you are really excited. You begin to prepare the device to get ready for gameplay. Of course, the first thing you need to do is plug in the headset and get it all charged up for a day of continuous play.

So, you plug it in and, suddenly, the red light on the headset’s side glows a bright red, and it is not even blinking. Is this something to worry about? Or, is it just a normal function of the Stealth 600 and Stealth 700 headsets?

Put simply, the LED light switches to a solid red hue when the headset is plugged in to charge. It is supposed to do this to let you know the device is taking the charge.

There are some times, however, when your Turtle Beach Stealth 600 or Stealth 700 may have a solid red LED light and it is not charging at the time. It may even seem to be stuck in that mode. So, below, let’s take a look at how to turn off the solid red light in various scenarios.

1. Will Charging my Headset Always Eliminate the Solid Red Light?

When your headset’s battery is beginning to get low, you will notice that LED light will blink red. You will need to plug the unit in to charge. At that point, whether you own the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 or Stealth 700, the LED light should change to solid red by default. The only way to fix this, if it is indicative of a low battery, is to fully charge the unit.

The LED light will display differently, however, depending on whether the headset is powered off or powered on while it is still charging. If the device is powered on while it is charging, the LED light will change to a blinking blue tone when it is completely charged. However, if the headset is powered off as it is charging, the solid red LED light will simply turn off completely after the device is done charging.

2. What if my Headset is Displaying the Solid Red Light for no Apparent Reason?

If this is the case, you will have to conduct a hard reset of your Turtle Beach Stealth 600 or Stealth 700 headset. You will need to follow different instructions depending on which model you have chosen.

For the Stealth 600 headset, press and hold down the Mode and Connect buttons together for at least 20 seconds. Holding them down longer is better than doing so for a shorter period of time.

On the Stealth 700, press and hold down the Mode and Bluetooth buttons at the same time for 20 seconds or longer. It is always best to do this when the unit is already connected to a power source. Users have said they have seen better results doing this.

Another way to reboot the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 model is to press and hold down the Bluetooth, Power, and Mode buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds.

Lastly, you could just wait until the battery dies on either model headset and just recharge each one as usual.

3. Is There Any Way to Prevent the LED Light from Becoming Stuck on Solid Red Again?

The easiest way to prevent that irritating unresponsive state, where the LED light stays a solid red color, is to apply the firmware update.

This is actually pretty easy, and it applies to both the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and Stealth 700.

First, be sure that the Turtle Beach Audio Hub is running on your computer. Then, you power your headset on, and using the USB cable that was included with the unit, plug the headset into any free USB port on your PC.

The Audio Hub will detect your headset, then search for all available and appropriate firmware updates, and then ask you to install each of them that is applicable. By installing these firmware updates, you should be guaranteed that the solid red light issue will not happen again.

However, it is critical that you also perform a hard reset of your game console, as well.

First, hold down the console’s Power button for up to 10 seconds, allowing the console to fully shut off. If you only press it down and release it quickly, you are only going to put the device in Sleep mode. You want to be sure that the console is completely powered down in order for the process to be performed properly.

Once you confirm that the unit has shut down completely, press the Power button once again to power it back up. You should see the console logo and some sound effects indicating that the unit is on. Be sure the console does not instantly boot into the dashboard. That means the hard reset was done incorrectly and you will have to start over.

Finally, once you are sure that you have properly conducted a hard reset on your console, remember to check that your headset is assigned to the correct profile once it is turned on.

If not, you can quickly pair the headset with the console easily again. Just turn both the headset and the console on and be sure that the LED lights on both light up. Press the Enroll button on your console until it starts blinking faster than usual. Then, hold down the Connect button on the headset. Its LED light will also flash rapidly as a connection is being made. You will notice the LED lights on both units become solid, which tells you that the two devices have been successfully paired again.

In conclusion, there are a few reasons why you may see a solid red LED light on your Turtle Beach Stealth 600 or Stealth 700 headset. However, charging the unit is the most common one. If you have a solid red LED light issue for any other reason, try the hacks above to fix the issue quickly.
