You can adjust the Ring doorbell volume by going to your Ring app > Devices. Choose your doorbell type (Chime or Chime Pro) and click on Chime Tones. From here, you can adjust the volume by swiping the slider.
Do you want to adjust the volume of your Ring doorbell – but don’t know how to? Then you’ve come to the right page! Here, you’ll learn the different ways of adjusting your Chime or ChimePro doorbell sounds.
How To Adjust the Ring Doorbell Volume
Generally speaking, the steps to adjusting your doorbell volume are as follows:
- First, you need to open your Ring Doorbell app on your device.
- Click on the Devices menu. You may find this at the top left corner of the app.
- Choose what device you have from the list – Chime or Chime Pro.
- Click on the Chime Tones option.
- Here, you’ll see a volume slider above or below the Sounds option.
- You can swipe it to the left to soften your doorbell alarm, or to the right to make it louder.
If these steps don’t seem to work, you don’t have to worry. Some users encounter certain problems, the most common of which you’ll find below.
Problem 1: No ‘Chime Tones’ Option in the App
Ever followed the above-mentioned steps, but don’t see the ‘Chime Tones’ option in your Ring Doorbell app?
In some cases, this is because of the way the app works in a certain device model or make.
That said, you don’t have to worry if you can’t see the Chimes Tones option in your Ring app. All you need to do is follow these steps to adjust your doorbell volume:
- Select your device (Chime or Chime Pro) in the Ring Doorbell app.
- Click on Alert Settings.
- Select Chime Tones.
- Adjust the volume slider according to your desired doorbell volume.
Problem 2: No Volume Slider Visible
Some users report having an absent volume slider in their apps.
This can be a big concern since it’s the slider that allows you to adjust your doorbell volume.
Should this be your problem, you need not fret as you can still adjust the doorbell to your desired sound.
For this, you need to open the Ring Doorbell app on your phone or laptop.
Click on your device (Chime or Chime Pro). Go to the Entryway Keypad option and select Audio Settings.
Choose Chime Tones.
On this page, you’ll see a Volume Slider at the top of the page. You may adjust this according to your desired doorbell volume.
Don’t forget to hit the ‘Save’ button once you have made the necessary volume changes.
Problem 3: Same Doorbell Volume Even After Adjusting
Say that you have followed the steps above but your doorbell still chimes louder (or softer) than you want to.
What you need to do is make sure that you click on the ‘Save’ option after adjusting your volume slider.
If not, your Chime or Chime Pro doorbell won’t ‘adopt’ the new doorbell volume.
It is important to note that the changes are not instant. You need to give your Ring doorbell a few minutes to adjust to the new settings.
The speed at which these modifications take place usually depends on your Internet’s signal strength. If you see a ‘Something Went Wrong’ message, it means that you have an unstable device connection.
To avoid having to do the adjustment all over again, make sure your internet connection is okay right before you make changes.
Apart from internet stability, the doorbell’s distance from the router also affects the time it takes for the volume changes to take place.
If there are no volume changes, try to modify the tone (not just the volume) to ‘test’ your modifications. This will help you determine if your device indeed processes the adjustments you have made.
Problem 4: Tried Everything But the Volume Still Doesn’t Change
If you have tried everything – but to no avail – there’s still something you can do.
You can remove the Ring Doorbell app and reboot the device you are using. Maybe there is an issue with your app or device – nothing that a hard reset can’t fix!
After doing so, re-install the app and go through the volume adjustment steps once again. This should help you change the volume once and for all.
It’s easy to adjust your Ring doorbell volume. Just open your app, hit Devices, and choose your doorbell model.
Click on the Chimes Tone option and adjust the volume slider.
Make sure to click ‘Save’ and wait for the sound changes to take place.
If you can’t seem to adjust the volume despite following all the steps above, don’t hesitate to contact Ring support. The staff can walk you through the various steps of changing your doorbell volume.
