Does Roku TV & Streaming Stick Have Bluetooth?

If you recently purchased a brand new Roku stick or Roku TV, then you’re probably wondering if you can connect it to one of your Bluetooth devices. So does Roku and Roku Stick have Bluetooth?

Both the Roku TV and Roku Streaming Stick have Bluetooth connectivity features, but they are limited. You will need to have the Roku Wireless Speakers or Soundbar in order to connect the Roku TV. Similarly, using the Bluetooth connectivity with a Roku Streaming Stick is limited in how only one person can listen at a time, and you will require a new version of the streaming stick.

Of course, there is much more to know about using the Roku TV and Streaming Stick with Bluetooth. To learn this information, keep reading. In this article, we tell you about Bluetooth capabilities, how to set it up, and more. Let’s get started.

Can I Connect A Bluetooth Device To My Roku TV ; Streaming Stick?

Bluetooth allows you to connect your Roku device to a smartphone, tablet, or computer over short distances. This will allow you to listen to music, podcasts, and more from other rooms in your home. If you have a Roku TV and Streaming Stick, you are in luck. They are Bluetooth compatible, with some limitations.

Roku TV Bluetooth Connectivity

Traditionally, you can pair a Roku TV to any Bluetooth device as long as you have Roku Wireless Speakers or Soundbar. In other words, you can only pair a Roku TV to a Bluetooth streaming device if you have the speakers or soundbar to match. Without these devices, the Roku TV will not be able to connect to a Bluetooth device.

Roku Streaming Stick Bluetooth Connectivity

If you use the Streaming Stick, it comes with a remote control and app. You can get higher-end features by downloading the Roku app to your phone. With this phone app, you can use voice search capabilities, private listening, Wi-Fi connection, and Bluetooth connection.

Because of this app, you can connect your Streaming Stick to Bluetooth headphones that are paired with your phone. However, there are limitations. For example, only one person can listen at a time, and this only applies to new Streaming Sticks.

The biggest drawback is that the Streaming Stick will not have Bluetooth connectivity if you have an older version. So long as your Streaming Stick is new, however, you will be able to connect to Bluetooth devices.

What Are The Benefits Of Connecting My Roku Device To Bluetooth?

Whether you have a Roku TV or a Roku Streaming Stick, the benefits of connecting the device to a Bluetooth item are the same. Connecting the devices to Bluetooth mediums allows you to listen to your device while you are in a different room.

For example, you can still listen to a podcast or music while you are cleaning your room or cooking dinner. This allows you to get the most use from your Roku, even when you aren’t in the same room.

How To Setup Bluetooth With The Roku TV ; Streaming Stick:

If you’re using the Roku TV or Streaming Stick with Bluetooth connectivity, you will need to set it up. This can be a bit difficult if you have never set up Bluetooth connectivity on these devices before.

Luckily, setting up Bluetooth connectivity on your Roku TV and Roku Streaming Stick goes through the same steps. Here is a breakdown of how to set it up.

Roku TV

Once again, remember that you can only connect your Roku TV to Bluetooth devices if you pair the TV with Roku TV Wireless Speakers or the Roku Soundbar. If you do not have these speakers or soundbar, the TV will not be able to connect to Bluetooth.

After you confirm that the Roku TV you have selected is capable of Bluetooth connection, you need to begin by setting up the Roku devices. Simply set this up as you normally would if it is not already set up. If your Roku device is already up and functioning, move on to the next step.

Next, make sure that the Bluetooth function is turned ON on the Bluetooth device. If the Bluetooth function is not enabled on your device, the Roku TV will not be able to connect to it. You can typically turn on Bluetooth by going to the settings menu or sub-menu.

Once Bluetooth is enabled on your device, you can start to pair the Roku TV with your device. In order to do this, you must go through the pairing function on your Roku TV. Begin by clicking the home button on your Roku remote. Select “Settings,” then “Remotes ; Devices.” Under that page, you should select “Pair Bluetooth Device.”

After you select this option, a Bluetooth pairing screen should appear on your Roku TV. Once this appears, go to your Bluetooth device and open the Bluetooth settings. Your device will then scan for the Roku device. Select the Roku item that shows up.

At this point, you should have completed the pairing process. The Roku device will now appear on your chosen Bluetooth device in the future. Similarly, your Bluetooth device will show up on your Roku.

Streaming Stick

Setting up Bluetooth for your Roku Streaming Stick is pretty much the same. The only difference is that you don’t necessarily need the Roku Wireless Speakers or Soundbar in order to do it. What you do need are a new version of the Streaming Stick and the Roku app.

Other than that, you will follow the steps that we mentioned above. The reason that you go through the same steps is that the Roku Streaming Stick is basically meant to replace the larger Roku items for people who already have a TV and other systems.

With the Roku Streaming Stick, you won’t have as many Bluetooth connectivity options, but it will still allow you to perform basic Bluetooth connectivity.

Other Ways To Connect My Roku Device To Bluetooth

If you do not have the proper tools or stick to connect your Roku device to Bluetooth, you are not completely out of luck. With the Roku mobile app, you can utilize the mobile private listening feature. This essentially allows you to listen to the Roku TV audio through your phone, but you won’t be able to connect the Roku device to any other Bluetooth item.

What you will need to do to utilize this feature is pair your Bluetooth device to the mobile phone through the steps we mentioned above. Then, activate the mobile private listening feature using the app. At that point, you should be able to play the TV’s audio into the Bluetooth device.

Final Thoughts

The Roku TV and Streaming Stick provide Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities of higher-end options at a much more affordable price. This allows you to listen to your device through headphones and other devices.

This makes it much easier to listen to your favorite music, podcasts, and more in any room of your home, even rooms where the Roku device is not located.
