How to Connect any Corsair Headset Via the 3.5mm Audio Cable

If you own a Corsair headset but don’t own one that connects via Xbox’s connect feature, then you’ll still be able to connect via a 3.5mm port. All you would need to do is plug in your audio cable into your Xbox controller’s audio jack. And that’s it!

However, if you notice that the sound is coming from your speakers instead of the headset, then here’s what you need to do:

  • press on the Xbox logo
  • Click on Settings
  • Tap on All Settings
  • Select Display & Sound
  • Now click on Volume > Party Chat Output
  • And select Headset

If you’re unable to hear your gameplay sounds, then here’s what you need to do:

  • Simply press the Xbox button

  • Click on Volume
  • Select Chat Mixer
  • Then select Do Nothing

If you’re trying to connect to an Xbox one and are using an older version of the controller, you may notice that it’s equipped with a 2.5mm audio port rather than a 3.5mm if this is the case, then you’ll still be able to connect with the use of an adapter.

What to do if Your Corsair Headset Mic is not Working or You’re Experiencing Sound Issues

Check if your microphone is muted

The first thing you want to do is check if your microphone is muted. Most Corsair headsets come with a button with a microphone icon located on one side of the earcup. If the button is pushed down, this means that your headset is muted. If this is the case, then simply press it one more time to unmute.

Restart both devices

Sometimes the fix can be as simple as turning off your headset and Xbox and re-connecting them. This allows your device to start from scratch and eliminate connection or pairing issues that may have occurred.

Update your Corsair headset Firmware

A very common reason many users experience sound or mic issues typically revolves around the headset’s firmware. In most cases, not updating your firmware can cause issues.

You can update your firmware by installing Corsair’s ICue Software. Make sure your headset is connected to your device. Select the device you would like to update and click on Device Settings. Next, simply click on Check for Updates. Sometimes you may notice that your software displays no available updates even though there may be one. So what you can do in this circumstance is to select Force Update. This will simply force your device to update to the latest firmware.

Hard Reset your headset

If non of the above solutions seemed to work and you are still experiencing issues with the microphone or sound quality, then your final option is to hard reset your headset. Since the reset process for each Corsair headset varies, simply visit Corsair’s knowledge base to find out how to reset your specific headset.
