When I first purchased my google home hub I was excited to connect it to all my smart devices. Most of my friends wanted me to connect it to my Ring doorbell to find out if Ring Doorbell Works With Google Home & the answer?
Ring doorbell does work with google home but with limitations. You are able to communicate to Ring via your google home only although you will not able to stream video through Chromecast or view video through google home hub display.
The reason for the limited compatibility is ring is owned by Amazon & google home hub owned by google. Which makes them competitors.
What Tasks Can Google Home Preform With Ring?
As mentioned above Ring does work with google home but its extremely limited. Since you cant view or stream video through google home hub display what can you do?
Heres a list of what you can control with google home hub:
- You will be able to use Google Home Hub to ask Ring to record video this only lasts for 30 seconds.
- Disable Ring Alerts
- Track doorbell rings
- Find out battery level
Is Purchasing a Google Home Hub to Use With Ring Worth it?
The quick short answer is no, the reason being is the things you can do with it are extremely limited. If you already own a Google Home Display then it wouldn’t hurt to connect to Ring but if you are purchasing a google home hub to work with Ring it’s not really recommended since there are products out there that are more compatible with Ring.
It would be much better to purchase an amazon echo as there is no real limit to what you can do with Ring. Here is what Amazon Echo show can do with Ring products:

- Once Ring Detects motion Amazon echo notifies you
- Live Video Streaming. (Simply ask Alexa to show you the front door, backdoor..etc).
