JLab, founded in 2005, is an American consumer electronics company. They're the number 1 manufacturer in wallet-friendly, truly wireless earbuds. While their product quality is exceptional, occasionally they will have issues pairing—this isn't a problem exclusive to JLab—but there are some troubleshooting steps to try. Bluetooth is notoriously flaky, and that's not likely to change anytime soon. Bluetooth has a poor range, is extremely vulnerable to interference & interruptions, and is a massive leech on battery-powered devices. So having the occasional pairing issue is not uncommon. Here's how to resolve the issue. "Forget" Your earbuds from your Bluetooth List If you've already paired your Jlab earbuds to your source device once before or if you have another pair of earbuds that was recently connected to the device, the first thing you'll want to do is "forget" your earbuds from your source device's Bluetooth list. To do this: Navigate to the Settings on your source device (phone, tablet, laptop...etc.)Select Bluetooth. On the My Devices list, select your Jlab earbuds or a previously connected headphone or earbuds and select "Forget."Now place your earbuds in pairing mode. And select them on your source device's Bluetooth list. Ideally, you'd want to "forget" both your Jlab earbuds and a previously connected earbud/headphones to ensure that the pairing process goes smoothly. The reason for this is due to the fact that wireless earbuds save your source device in its pairing history, allowing it to automatically connect to your device when needed. A common issue that tends to happen is that your previously connected earbud may try and establish a connection with your device even after it's been disconnected. "Reset Your JLab Earbuds There are a few different brands within the JLab "family," and each one has its own reset procedure. We've provided complete instructions for every Jlab model available simply find the instructions for your device below and follow along. It's important that you "forget" your earbuds from your Source device (Phone, Tablet, Laptop...etc.) once again before resetting your device to ensure that the reset process goes smoothly. Jlab Go Air Models: With both earbuds placed inside the case, quickly tap one earbud seven times (your earbuds should flash Blue three times)While both earbuds are still in the case, quickly tap the other earbuds seven timesTake both earbuds out of the case; if the reset process is successful, one should flash solid white while the other one should flash white and blue. Indicating that your earbuds are now connected to one another and are ready to pair. Jbuds Air Models: On your device's Bluetooth settings, select to forget the 'Jbuds Air' earbuds listing. Place your earbuds in the charging case, leaving the case open. Beginning with one of your earbuds first, you should tap the button 4 times. We should see blue lights blinking 4 times before turning a solid blue. Repeat this for your other earbud. Remove your earbuds from the charging case, being sure to keep them separated at least 2 inches from each other. Your left earbud should soon flash a solid white, while the right will be blinking in blue and white. Indicating that your earbuds are connected and ready to pair. Epic Air Models: Place your earbuds in the case and "forget" your Epic Air earbuds from your device's Bluetooth list.With both earbuds still place inside the case, quickly tap one earbud seven times (your earbuds should flash Blue three times)While both earbuds are still in the case, quickly tap the other earbuds seven timesTake both earbuds out of the case. If the reset process is successful, one should flash solid white, while the other one should flash white and blue. Indicating that your earbuds are now connected to one another and are ready to pair. JLabs suggests that the process may take more than one effort and if three times doesn't do the trick. Once your earbuds are reset and ready to pair again, they should show up in whichever host device you are trying to pair them with. Check Your Earbuds Current Charging Status One important thing that you should know about the pairing process is that both earbuds will need to be correctly positioned and seated on the case's charging pins in order to establish a connection to your source device. Often times what tends to happen is one or both earbuds are either not correctly or blocked. Make sure that the earbuds are properly placed on the charging case This issue can be due to a few reasons, the first being that you may not have placed your earbuds in the case correctly. The best way to know if this is the cause of the problem is by checking the current battery status of your earbuds to ensure both buds are correctly placed on the case's charging pins. This can be done via the JBL Headphones app. Clean the earbuds charging ports a build-up of dust and debris on your case's charging port, preventing your earbuds from making contact with the case's charging pins. The first thing you'll want to do is clean the inner parts of the case's charging ports, ensuring there is no build-up preventing your earbuds from making contact with the case's charging pins. Ensure that the earbud tips are correctly fitted Another common reason this can happen is if the ear tips are incorrectly fitted onto the earbud. Thus preventing the earbuds from making full contact with the case's charging pins. Earbuds out of battery or powered off The next thing you'll want to check is if your earbuds are powered off. This tends to happen quite a bit, especially with first-time users. To turn your earbuds on, press and & hold the Jlab logo on the back of the earbuds for 3+ seconds. All Things Considered JLab is no stranger to wireless earbud technology, and they have produced quality products for 16 years. If you're experiencing issues pairing to a host device, the earbuds not pairing with each other, or audio skipping, it's more likely a Bluetooth issue rather than the JLab earbuds.
